Accessibility

Most accessibility statements are a paragraph of intent. This one lists what Loep does and checks, what it knows is not right yet, and how to report a problem.

01Who we are

Loep is operated by ADJL Capital LLC. Accessibility problems go to laskowskidanny@gmail.com; How to report a problem says what to include.

02The standard

Loep aims at the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.2, Level AA. That is a target and a test, not a claim of a formal audit: this page says what is done and checked, and what is known to fall short.

03What Loep does

  • Contrast. Every pair of text and ground in the design tokens clears the WCAG AA ratio, in both themes, and a script checks every pair at build time. A pair that fails stops the build.
  • Type size. Nothing renders below 12 pixels, including chart axes, slugs and canvas labels. Body prose is 16 pixels at a measure of 68 characters.
  • Tap targets. Every primary control is at least 44 by 44 pixels, and every other control at least 24 by 24, the WCAG 2.5.8 minimum. Links inside a sentence are exempt, as the standard exempts them.
  • Keyboard. Every control works from the keyboard with a visible focus ring, a skip link leads to the sheet, the phone menu closes on Escape, and the map's panel can be opened, resized and closed without a pointer.
  • Motion. If your system asks for reduced motion, Loep honors it: the terrain draws complete in one frame, nothing drifts, the count-ups land on their figures, and the horizon loader is a line rather than an animation. Nothing on the site flashes, and nothing loops forever.
  • Themes. A Night Survey theme exists for long sessions, with the same contrast floors as Paper. It follows your system setting or your own choice from the footer.
  • Structure. Every page has one main heading and a heading order, every form control has a label, every empty state and error is a full sentence, and a null is an em dash rather than a zero, so a screen reader does not announce a figure that is not there.
  • Text alternatives. Decorative contours and icons are hidden from assistive technology; the logo and every icon-only button carry a name.
  • No sideways scrolling at any width Loep is checked at, down to 390 pixels.

04What is known to fall short

  • The map is a canvas. The property scanner's map is drawn by a mapping library onto a canvas element, and the pins on it are not readable by a screen reader as a list. The text alternative is the panel: every address, listing and figure the map shows is in the panel beside it, and searching by address reaches the same survey without the map.
  • The hero terrain is a canvas too, and it is decorative. It carries no information and is hidden from assistive technology; the headline and the ledger are text.
  • The indicators live on TradingView. Loep does not control the accessibility of TradingView's charts.
  • No independent audit yet. Testing is automated checks plus manual keyboard use, which is not the same as somebody using the site the way they use the web, and not every screen reader has been tried.

05How to report a problem

Write to laskowskidanny@gmail.com and say what you were trying to do, what happened instead, and what you were using: the device, the browser, and any assistive technology. A screenshot helps but is not required. Loep would rather hear about it than not, and answers with what will change and when.
